The difference is astonishing. Here’s the picture I uploaded yesterday with the game running in Parallels:
And here’s the same picture running in Boot Camp (I copied over the save file so everything, including the time of day, is exactly the same):
In my opinion if you really want to play The Sims 4, and you’re on a Mac, then Boot Camp provides a much better experience. As for the game itself, I’ll be back with my personal opinion on it over the next couple of days. Suffice to say I’m still working on Huckleberry Bay in TS3 and am still building and playing TS3.
These pictures were taken in game in Boot Camp. I’m running Windows 7. My Mac is a 15″ MacBook Pro, 2.6Ghz Intel Core i7, 16Gb RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 650M 1Gb.
yes, mine is via bootcamp, too, now. The difference is clarity and shadows is quite marked. Still not sure the actual game play hasn’t taken a giant leap towards the first version of sims. I shall soldier on… So glad you’re continuing with Huckleberry Bay! 🙂

What size partition would you recommend creating for Bootcamp? I plan on only using it to play the Sims 4, so I’ll only need space to run the program and hold save files and CC.

50/60Gb maybe? All depends on how big your saves become and how much CC you install 🙂

Sounds good. I tend to go a little nuts with the CC so I’ll err on the larger side. Thanks!

I have 8 GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4000, and my processor is 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5. I currently have Boot Camp installed with over 100 GB of space and I play Sims 3 on Mac OS at max graphics with a tiny bit of lag, and I play Sims 2 with max graphics on Boot Camp and it runs perfectly. Should I be able to run Sims 4 as well? 🙂

thanks for posting this. i’m buying my daughter a macbook air for her ninth birthday. the only game she really wants besides minecraft is sims 4. from your post, it’s clear that it will have to be in bootcamp not parallels or fusion. not sure if my nine year old will have the patience to deal with learning a dual boot system…

Hi! Thank you for all the info you provide! I wanted to ask you which OS do you have on your mac? I learned today that bootcamp can only run Windows 7 on older versions of OS X..
Do you think there is also these kind of graphic differences with the Sims 3?

I run Sierra on my main Mac which I play on. You probably won’t notice any graphics differences for Sims 3 in Windows but due to the game being native in Windows as opposed to a crappy wrapped version in macOS it always plays much better.
