If you have CC/Mods installed in your game it is essential that you move them out of the Sims 4 folder before updating your game. To make sure you are not caught out by automatic updates, before you have a chance to move out your CC/Mods, you need to turn them off.
- To turn off automatic updates for your game, open Origin then go to Preferences:
Make sure you’re in the Application tab and scroll down to Client Update. Automatic game updates and Automatically update Origin should both be off:
- Make sure Origin is not automatically loading when you start up/login to your Mac. Automatically start Origin should be off:
- To verify that Origin shouldn’t be loading at startup/login you can double check whilst it’s open. Right click on the Origin icon in your Dock, go to Options and make sure Open at Login is unticked:

Open System Preferences then click on Users & Groups:Make sure your user account is selected then click on Login Items in the right hand pane. Hey, I’m new to the sims. What do I do if I haven’t moved my mods before updating? It was auto updated:/ (so, they auto disabled mods). It happened after the latest June 2019 update. Then, I have this issues where I can’t get my Sims into worlds. Do you know how to fix this? I already asked EA and they suggested me to delete all of my CC 😦 I can’t live without CC 😦
I don’t follow general game bugs so I’m afraid have no idea about the Sims not in worlds. You could check the bug forum for that – https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/bd-p/The-Sims-4-Bugs
You need to test your game without any mods – move your Mods folder to the desktop, trash the localthumbcache.package file, repair the game then launch it and see if your game performs properly. Play for a bit but don’t save.
I didn’t know that you had to remove your mods before the update so I updated it with the mods in, my mods are now not working I’ve deleted all my mods the game still says I have them, and when I try to add new ones it doesn’t work… Help.
move the Mods folder to the desktop, trash the localthumbcache.package file then load your game.
