Coming back slowly.

In the last few days I’ve wanted to load up The Sims 3 again. Don’t know why as RL still has so much going on, but I’ve just been messing around with it. My lovely husband (yep, he’s no longer simply a boyfriend 😉 ) bought me Supernatural the other day and I’ve been laughing at macho Sims running around with bright pink fairy wings. My game seems to be working ok at the moment. I’ve patched a couple of times with no problems and installed Supernatural without any hitches. Although whenever there’s any kind of animal in sight or about to spawn there is a slight stutter and lag as the game engine tries to keep up. Of course this is nothing to do with my Macs specs. and everything to do with EA’s crappy port using Cider. Does it happen in Boot Camp? Of course not.

So I’m thinking I might build something simple and upload it soon. The problem is that all my builds are so store heavy content wise but I guess most builder’s houses are now, 3 1/2 years down the line.

The Sims 3 and OS X Mountain Lion

Just a quickie for Mac users. It seems that the game runs ok in Mountain Lion (at least it is for me). It took a little longer than normal to load up but that may have been because I was loading Lucky Palms. Overall the gameplay seemed as smooth as is technically possible with EA’s crappy Mac offering though. I’m running:

  • Late 2011 15″ MacBook Pro
  • OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion
  • 8Gb RAM
  • AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1Gb

Airplay Mirroring to Apple TV worked without any hitches too, although you may need to change the game resolution so you can see all the controls. I’m probably updating my late 2009 15″ MacBook Pro to Mountain Lion within the next few days so I’ll report back if there seem to be any graphics issues 🙂

For the Mac users having problems, or not

Please, please, please can you post on the following thread:

I want to try and narrow down the current bugs and glitches to common factors for each one. We’re only using 3 different operating systems at the most. All updates come from Apple for the OS and hardware – no 3rd party drivers from the manufacturers. The hardware across certain models is pretty much the same – same processors and graphics cards – I’m thinking the problem is maybe installed software and what is installed into peoples’ games.

EA are truly loathsome when it comes to their support for Macs but they do read the Mac forum, even if they only send out their pet moderator Nichaedemus to post stupid and irrelevant comments. We managed to narrow down the graphics issue for them with Lion, let’s try and sort out the other problems too 🙂

We need as many specs. as possible please, from those whose games work and those whose don’t.
