Sims 2, Sims 3, Sims Medieval and SimCity are no more in macOS Catalina

Update 02/10/19 – EA announced today that they will be releasing a 64-bit version of Sims 3 in early 2020!

We knew it was coming and now it’s real:

32-bit apps are dead in 10.15. If you’re thinking about upgrading when the public beta is released in July, or when it is released in the Autumn, you may want to install Mojave or an earlier version of macOS on an external drive beforehand if you want to continue to play the legacy sims games.

First Person View Bug with Retina Display enabled

A new bug since the April ’19 patch, this time affecting First Person View (FPV). Users reported the little white circle not being centred properly on their game screen:

After testing various options, it seems that having Retina Display enabled in the Game Options causes this bug:

Uncheck the Retina Display option and the FPV marker will be back in the centre of your game screen:

Pixelated UI and greyed out menus in Sims 4

Since the April ’19 patch some Mac users have reported pixelated, blank and greyed out menu items, notification walls and other UI issues. Normally this would be related to an out of date UI mod but not all users have CC/Mods so it is possible this could be a new Mac bug.

Edit 18/06/19 – Cheezyeen and verfens have confirmed in the thread that allowing the game to run through the loading screens (Maxis/EA/Sims4 intros) and NOT clicking them to load the game more quickly stops this issue from happening.
