Sims 4 Mac patch to address April update issues

EA have today released a hotfix patch to address the issues created by last week’s patch.

Mac Patch: 1.62.69.1220

Importantly, if you applied any of the workarounds we posted at Answers HQ you do not have to reverse them, the game will do all the work for you 🙂

Sims 4 Packs not showing as downloaded in Origin since April 2020 patch

This isn’t really much of an issue as the packs are in fact downloaded and show up in the game but it is confusing some because Origin shows Download in the orange button instead of Play. The fix is super easy and requires creating a new folder in the Applications folder where the game is installed, and moving across a bunch of folders from the game app. Full instructions on how to do this are detailed in this thread at Answers HQ.

This is only relevant for users with an existing installation of the game. If you have installed the game since the 7 April patch you don’t need to worry about this as Origin has created the new folder for you.

Initialization at startup error – April 2020 patch issue for Mac

The Initialization at startup error [135dec40:90f690cf:00000075:495f32a0] is back with a vengeance, this time affecting Sims 4 Mac players running the current version of the game with multiple language options and not the Legacy Edition.

There are three options currently to fixing this issue. I’ll link directly to MaxisJoe’s workarounds at Answers HQ. Please read them fully and choose the one you feel most comfortable with:

Method 1 (Easiest option) – Change Origin and Sims 4 language to the same in the Origin app

Method 2 (More technical but still easy option) – Manually edit the .plist Origin files

Method 3 (Easy but drastic) – Uninstall and reinstall the game and change language in Origin
