macOS Sierra, The Sims 3 and The Sims 4

Threads are starting to pop up on the forums with people moaning that their Sims games will not work properly, or at all, since they have updated to macOS Sierra beta. What a surprise! The operating system is in beta which means it will be buggy as hell and apps may not work properly. If you’ve signed up for the public beta it means that you agreed that stuff may not work properly on your Mac under Sierra and you should be reporting bugs and issues to Apple via the Feedback Assistant. You will have also been prompted to use Time Machine to back up your Mac before installing the OS – if you didn’t then give yourself a slap.

If you now can’t play because you opted into the beta program may I suggest you wipe and reinstall El Capitan on your Mac. Alternatively you could install El Capitan/Yosemite/Mavericks onto an external drive and play the Sims on there. Or you could wait until Apple release updates and hope your game works again. Even when Sierra is finally released in a few months time there is no guarantee that EA will support it.

No 3rd party apps are supported under beta versions of any operating systems. Maybe next time stick with the stable OS you are already running?

Sims 4 will not close and Force Quit doesn’t work either

This seems to be an emerging issue for Mac users since the June patch – the Sims 4 will not close properly when exiting out of the game. The game will appear to close but will still be running in the background. Using Force Quit does nothing and using Activity Monitor to quit processes doesn’t work either.

If you are suffering from this issue PLEASE post in this thread. The more info obtained the more likely we can come up with a fix.

Thanks 🙂

Sims 4 – Dine Out, gardens, lighting and CAS. Oh, and toddlers.

I really am looking forward to the new Sims 4 Game Pack, Dine Out. For the last few months I’ve barely loaded the game as I’ve just found it so….. lacking. Apart from getting garden obsessed now and then –

Pool

there’s been nothing in the game to keep me interested. I find myself perusing the General Discussion forum for anything remotely interesting to read, only to find wall to wall toddler threads which are about as interesting as watching paint dry. How many times can the same people say the same thing over and over again? Don’t they get bored? (Toddler rant about toddler ranting over, oh the irony!)

The 2nd June patch got me back into the game though. No, not the CAS additions which I couldn’t give a damn about. I spend approximately 5 seconds in CAS, 10 if I’m feeling generous. CAS is even more boring than toddlers to me. No, it was the new lighting which is truly stunning. Some gorgeous pictures popped up on Twitter:

Including mine, of course 😉

And we now have a new Game Pack coming out, Dine Out. Who thought that running your own restaurant could be so exciting? Let’s hope it is.
