My first Sims 4 CC downloadable recolour

I’ve created my very first recolour of a cushion and I am SO proud of myself. It’s taken 17 years of playing the Sims to finally try recolouring and I’ve done it 🙂

I used dreamteamsims’ conversion of MangoSims’ cushion because I love the shape of it so for these to show up in your game you must download the mesh from here.

There are five different colours with three shades for each, totalling 15 swatches – greys, taupes, greens, blues and pinks.

Download them here (no adfly, just straight to the download link):

And if you need help installing CC in your game and you’re on a Mac then you need to read ItsaprilXD’s guide here, it tells you everything you need to know.

Adfly is nasty, nasty, nasty

Now I’m a CC junkie, I’m having to deal with the inevitable Adfly rubbish that some creators think they’re entitled to. It’s a shame that a lot of creators hide their links behind it. Maybe I should start hiding my help pages behind links too (that will never happen). I’ll click through the links though to get to what I want to download. I’m not stupid and know bullshit malware when I see it. But so many don’t and end up with crap on their computer all because someone thinks they’re entitled to payment for creating some pixels. Yes, a lot of those pixels are very pretty and take a long time to make but let’s be honest, you’re probably creating and uploading because you like the adoration and attention, that’s why you use the Adfly links.

As a Mac user the ads always seem to tell me that my Flash player is out of date and then very helpfully downloads a new version for me (if you get this too NEVER OPEN IT). Today I got a new and exciting advert telling me my Mac was horribly infected and the pop up looked like the print options. Quite clever actually:

And doesn’t it look like Apple’s site too? It eventually disappeared and I downloaded the CC from the creator’s Mediafire page.

So yeah, a little rant post about greedy CC creators who potentially put other peoples’ computers at risk from infection. And you know what pisses me off even more? Active CC creators who don’t update their content when it breaks due to a patch, or don’t link to a mesh needed, but still have the links up to download from. And then when you message them asking about the item they ignore you but happily respond to their fans gushing over their amazing talents. I swear, I’m going to start naming and shaming soon.

Sims 4 on a Mac – Major Bugs update

Grey and opaque windows

All non-Retina MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs with integrated Intel graphics which have Laptop Mode enabled in the in-game Graphics Options are experiencing grey/opaque windows. When Laptop Mode is disabled the windows appear normal but performance is diminished. Some are reporting that their games crash if they do not have Laptop Mode enabled.

  • All 11″ MacBook Airs from early 2011 to present
  • All 13″ MacBook Airs from early 2011 to present
  • All 13″ MacBook Pros from early 2011 to present
  • Mid 2014 15″ MacBook Pro 2.2GHz Intel Core i7

I suspect this is causing an awful lot of the crashing issues people are reporting without realising it’s their graphics card causing it.

There is no solution at the moment. If your game is affected by this you have to decide whether you want decent looking windows with poor overall performance or bugged windows with good overall performance. We have a thread on the Mac forum detailing Macs affected in the hope EA see it and release a patch. The more posters we get reporting this issue the sooner EA will release a patch, hopefully!

Intel HD 4000

This issue is still ongoing. Please read my previous blog post about a workaround if you have changed your Graphics Options and cannot now launch your game. EA are aware of this issue but have not yet released a patch.

CC and Mods causing the game to crash

SimGuruModSquad acknowledged that there were errors in the game which were causing crashes for people who use CC and/or Mods. A patch was released today to fix some of these errors but EA are still working on resolving the issue . If you are affected please head over to the stickied thread on the Mac forum for updates.
